Anna's First Cardigan

Anna received her first cardigan from our Chicago friend Clare. If you know Clare you know she is famous for her cardigans. So, this cardigan was a special gift from her at our baby shower. At the time it looked so big! It's hard to believe Anna already fits into it, and looks pretty darn cute if I may say so:)  Thanks Clare!

Our first St. Patty's Day

We celebrated Anna and John's first St. Patrick's Day in Pittsburgh. John was away in Boston for March Madness with his friends, so he missed out on the fashion show. Nana and Pop got them the cutest outfits and their Auntie Erin surprised us with a few really cute onesies. We had fun playing dress up with them! Our trip to Pittsburgh also included celebrating Amelia's sixth birthday. Aunt Jenny had our family over to her house for a yummy dinner and a cupcake cake. Amelia was showered with American Girl gifts and her favorite was the Bitty Baby from Nan and Pop.  Anna and John love spending time with their cousins!

We're a Wee Bit Irish on our Poppy's side of the family.

Amelia couldn't believe how heavy John felt in her lap. Poppy is holding cousin Abby.
Lucky to be a twin! Auntie Erin also bought John a onesie that says, "Irish girls love me" but he had an accident in it before I got his picture!

5 Months

The twins turned 5 months on February 17th. We are amazed at all the things Anna and John can do now.  They are both really interested in faces. They reach out their little hands and like to explore your face. Sometimes they get a good hold on your hair or pinch the skin on your neck. Ouch!!! Along with exploring our faces, their interest in toys has greatly increased. The exersaucer is a new favorite. It's so fun watching them explore all the different toys and how they work. They also have a toy giraffe from their Aunt Jenny that they love. They reach their hands out to hold anything and everything, including their books when we try to read to them. The babies love the touch and feel books. They have two from our friend Marisa that they absolutely love.  Anna and John are really enoying their mobiles. They like the light show and daddy says it looks like a nightclub in their room at night:)

In the beginning of their 5th month, we called Anna the "phantom roller." Neither John nor I ever actually saw her roll, we just found her on her tummy, usually screaming! Of course both Anna and John decided to roll over the day I went to Chicago- February17th. In the following weeks Anna increased her rolling and now only sleeps on her tummy. As soon as we put her down in her crib on her back, she flips right over. She still hasn't figured out how to roll back yet. Anna's content to just stay on her tummy for now. John just recently started rolling more. This makes life much more interesting for all of us!  Our next challenge is sitting up. That is going to take a little more practice.

Along with their bottles and oatmeal, the babies are also eating vegetables. So far they've tried carrots and sweet potatoes. They look like baby birds when they are ready to eat, mouths wide open, practically wiggling out of their high chairs. Oh, that's another new thing in this fifth month, the babies are using their high chairs now!  I think we will move onto the green veggies in their sixth month.

I almost forgot... the babies started sleeping through the night at 4 months!  I cannot even believe I didn't mention that in their 4 month blog! With a little sleep anything is possible.

Thanks Marisa for On the Farm!

Waiting very patiently for their oatmeal:)

Triple baptism

On February 26, Anna and John and their cousin Abby had a triple baptism at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh. It was an amazing day and we felt so lucky to have all sides of the family present. We even had a surprise visit from Aunt Kris!! Abby's dress was the same dress that Jenny and I wore when we were baptized. Anna wore a beautiful ivory colored dress and John wore his cousin Ethan's baptism outfit. Believe it or not, none of the babies cried when the water was poured over their heads. Pastor Tony led a beautiful ceremony for the babies and there was even a special baptism song written especially for them. After the church service, Nana and Pop had everyone over for a delicious lunch and cake. We felt so fortunate to have all of our loved ones present at this special occasion.
